
Chief minister Manohar Parikar on Monday proposed a reduction in prices of the fuel by Rs 11 per litre in the state. He also said that only 0.1 per cent value added tax (VAT) component would be levied by the government for sake of record. He added, ‘I propose to reduce the petrol price by Rs 11 per litre in order to save the commuters from inflation by presenting his first budget after his party came to power in the state. No doubt, this can be great relief for the residents of the state commuting on a regular basis but at the same time, Parikar can prove to be highly beneficial for the state. Once the budget and approval of reduction in prices is passed, the price of petrol in Goa would be the cheapest in the country at Rs. 55 litre whereas the petrol; price at present is Rs. 66 per litre.
