DP Sets Up 'Yuva' to Rehabilitate Youth

A new plan established by the Delhi Police called Yuva assists youngsters from crime-prone zones and acquire skills to make their own living. The country was incensed after the Delhi braveheart's death and the most cruel of the assaulter was a 17-yr-old runaway.

The first launched by the Delhi Police is attempting hard to bring down such missing souls and youngsters from crime-prone areas on the right path. Launched by the Delhi Police, the scheme Yuva targets at tackling time of life problems and teaching several skills to help these disobedient deprived youth.

Dozens of youngsters, generally school drop-outs, go to daily workshops grasped in various thanas across Delhi. NGOs and social volunteers have also been lined in to train them to talk in English, computer technology, hotel management, competitive exams and mobile reparation. Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar said, "The concentration has been in areas which are down and deprived like slums and unlicensed colonies."

In a little room of a Delhi school, Yuva associates are bestowed electrical training. Their instructor also teaches adolescent criminals at the Tihar Jail.

This police station in West Delhi has arranged tailoring classes for young boys and girls. Apart from acquiring technical skills, they also find out about endurance and patience. Those who dropped out of school owed to financial situation are now getting a second opportunity at life. "After approaching here, my tailoring skills have bettered. I have now began earning and can take attention of my expenses," said Deepak, who is a Yuva associate.

The police are walk-to the surplus mile by labor in career counselors and tying up with major brands. They also manage counseling sessions with parents. Not just that, the area inspectors irregularly visit the classes to send the message home. The Delhi Police's Yuva scheme, which has 10,000 youngsters registered under it, is intelligibly carrying the goalpost somebody to these deprived youth.
