Grammy Awards For Pandit Ravi Shankar

The sitar ace, ambassador of Indian music and associate of The Beatles, who died in December at 92, achieved best world music album for 'The Living Room Sessions Part 1.'

Anoushka Shankar, his daughter, received the honor on his behalf. The sitar player and musician was also nominated for her album 'Traveller.'

On Saturday, a lifetime achievement award was bestowed to Ravi Shankar at The Recording Academy's Special Merit Awards jubilation. Just a few days earlier he passed away, Shankar learned that he would acquire the honor and that he and his daughter were both appointed in the world music class.

Singer-pianist Norah Jones, Shankar's daughter, and Anoushka Shankar received their father's lifetime achievement award on Saturday afternoon.
