Maruti Workers get 70% hike over three years

Just about two months after, workers roll back to Manesar Plant, Maruti Suzuki has doled out a plenteous pay raise package in a new pay imbursement agreement, offering salary growth of nearly 70%, and also other benefits like interest free personal loans. The new salary hike agreement has been pleasingly accepted by the labor union of Maruti.

“Company has signed the new salary agreement with the workers and this will be relevant for shop-floor workers at the Gurgaon and Manesar manufacturing premises. The talks took us almost four months and 40 meetings”, say S Y Siddiqui, Chief Operating Officer (Administration) of Maruti.

According to settlement that is going to happen after three years, the average growth in salary of workers will be about Rs 15,800 this will be extended over a phase of three years. This contains an Rs 14,800 rise in gross salary apart from a supplementary Rs 1,000 in an ad hoc payment of Rs 2,000 that the company offers to workers every month.

Siddiqui declared that while 75 percent of the gross salary rise will be given in the first year, we will provide 12.5 percent each in the second and third years. As many as 2,800 workers in the Gurgaon plant and around 700 in Manesar will get advantages from the pay adjustment.

The training periods are compacted for technicians from three to two years, which also demanding specialize training courses for workers.
