Captain Hafeez Supports Shahid Afridi

Dull performance of former captain Shahid Afridi has been a descent for Pakistan in the World Twenty20 but Captain Mohammad Hafeez sprang to the all rounder’s bear saying he offered his finest in the tournament.

The all rounder played a poor shot to be bowled out on the first delivery he faced in opposition to Rangana Herath with Pakistan stressed during their hunt of 140 runs for a place in Sunday’s final.

On the same day, Afridi, who 16 years ago knocked the fastest 100th in 50-over cricket format against the similar rivals, received the award-winning wicket for Sri Lankan Captain Mahela Jayawardene on Thursday but has not been well with both bat and ball in entire tournament.

"He is a match winner; there is no doubt about his talents. But I think, he is actually in a bad form at the instant," Hafeez said to reporters when asked regarding the 32-year-old all-rounder's performance.

The all rounder got only 30 runs in five innings and received only four wickets with his leg-spin bowling in six matches.

"He's truly worked hard in the entire tournament, but bad luck things didn't work for him," Hafeez said.

"I can realize as a captain, as a player, when things don't work for you. "But he is a personality, he is always a go-getter and I think he is trying to come out of it is an upbeat sign for us as a team. So, that is the reason we have agreed him for all the chances."
