Microsoft Sees Rio de Janeiro for Tech Hub

Microsoft targets to construct a technology center in Rio de Janeiro, the chief of the US software giant's Brazil division said. "We expect to excite a stream of information among the Microsoft research teams, local universities, rising firms and the Brazilian market," Michel Levy enlightens to a press conference a day after the company declares plans for $100 million research center in a metropolis better recognized for beaches and its yearly Carnival.

It will be fourth Advanced Technology Laboratory in Rio of Microsoft such facility global and it’s foremost in Latin America. The compound will also domicile an accelerator for trade startups and a local operations center for the company's Bing search engine, Microsoft said.

Every two years, the accelerator will choose 15 Internet startups to take delivery of managerial, technological and monetary support. Each firm will be appropriate for financing up to $500,000.

Even if the laboratory will not be prepared before the ending of next year, the Microsoft business accelerator owes to become operational by the next quarter of 2013.
