Twitter Now Lean To Host Laugh Fest

Comedy legends such as Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner will be united by young comics in tweeting jokes and posting video clips on Vine, the app Twitter initiated in January that lets users to share six-second video clips. Utilizing Vine's conciseness, comedian Steve Agee will host a section called "Vine Dining" party in which sketched will be shared in six seconds. A proposal algorithm will help users find out new comedians based on earlier routines viewed. The partnership focuses Twitter's endeavors to move beyond its microblogging roots into an amusement destination that magnetize new users and keeps them occupied on the site longer. Part of Twitter's entertainment plan is having a greater association with TV viewers. BBC America announced via tweet that it hitted a deal with Twitter to generate "in-tweet branded video synced to entertainment TV series." And Twitter is said to be in sophisticated discussions to provide users direct access to TV pleased from NBC and Viacom. The partnership is also intended to elevate the profile of Comedy Central, which is also looking to make bigger its reach. Already well-entrenched on TV, the cable channel is likely to launch CC: Stand-Up a free, ad-supported app that features comedians' performances. Using the hashtag #ComedyFest, the fiesta will kick off Monday with a live stream of a section discussion from the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles during which Reiner and panel host Judd Apatow will attempt to convince technophobe Brooks to connect Twitter.
