Pak Declares Malala as 'Daughter of Pakistan

On Monday, Pakistan government confirmed teen rights activist Malala Yousufzai, the aim of a current shooting attempt by the Taliban, as the "Daughter of Pakistan".

The announcement comes after Pakistani Parliament generally adopted a decree asking the government to make so. The declaration was gone in the National Assembly or lower house of Parliament by Robina Saadat Qaimkhani, a lawmaker of the ruling Pakistan People's Party.

The resolution was approved hours after President Asif Ali Zardari taken part in a meeting on the subject "Stand up for Malala, Girls Education is a Right" that was prearranged jointly by Pakistan and UNESCO in Paris.

Referring to assail on Malala in the impatient Swat Valley on October 9, Zardari said a "young and strong-minded daughter of Pakistan" was attacked by the "forces of darkness". Malala stood for the right to education not just for herself but for the brilliant and progressive outlook for her country, he said.

Fourteen-year-old Malala was shot in the skull in a hit by two Taliban fighters. The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan said responsibility for the attack saying the teenager was embattled for adopting Western values and secularism.
