The University of Delhi, popularly also known as ‘DU’, is one of the most prestigious, largest, and popular Central Universities of India. The University of Delhi, at present, has two study campuses in the northern and southern part of the Delhi city, which are known as the North Campus and the South Campus respectively. Delhi University Admissions
Admissions to all the Undergraduate courses offered by the constituent colleges of the University of Delhi are scheduled by the announcements of the University which start from the month of May every year. Generally, admissions to the regular undergraduate courses in the desired disciplines are made in the interval June-July, as the academic session of the University of Delhi starts from the July 21, every year. The Dean of concerned faculty is the supervisor regarding the admission to the courses offered by the university. From the year 2011, there are available provisions of preregistration for the desired admission. No entrance examinations are conducted for admission to any of the colleges of Delhi University at undergraduate level, scores of the Higher Secondary School Examination recognized by the State or Central Boards of Secondary Education are considered as the basis. Admissions made through entrance examination, as is with the course of B.A. (H) English, follow a different schedule.
Colleges of Delhi University have the discretion and exclusive privilege to decide the minimum marks required (cut off percentage) for admissions to the courses provided by them, in accord with the University. Consideration of excellence in Sports or some Extra-curricular activities is made during the admission under these categories. Provisions of reservation for SC, ST, and Handicapped, as decided by the Government of India, are strictly followed during the admissions.
Different admission procedures are followed for admission to the Post-Graduate courses offered by the colleges of Delhi universities. The Dean of the desired faculty is the main source of information and advice, regarding admission to such courses.
