Teacher plays a very important role in offering education to his students. Teachers whether at a school, college or a university work hard to transform students into good citizens? Teachers guide students in learning and share those experiences of their personal lives which can help in shaping of students’ future. The teachers mould students and help in going on the process of learning. The teachers require support & encouragement for their devoted teaching. It is your duty to appreciate their efforts & devotion to teaching. Teacher’s Day is celebrated to honor teachers for their devotion to teaching & molding students. On Teacher’s Day, schools, colleges & universities are closed but the students & the teachers gather and celebrate it. The students honor their teachers and offer gifts to them.

Indian Teacher's Day History

Teacher’s Day history is not very old. The celebration of Teacher’s Day started in the 20th Century. The importance of teachers has also been recognized by UNESCO. Teacher’s Day is celebrated across the world on various dates. World Teacher’s Day is celebrated on the 5th October every year. Every county celebrates Teacher’s Day in their own ways. But Teacher’s Day in India is celebrated on the 5th September every year. When Dr. Sarvpalli Radhakrishnan became the 2nd President of India in 1962, some of his students, friends came to him and requested him to allow them to celebrate his birthday on the 5th September. Dr Krishnan told them, “I will be very happy & proud if the 5th September is celebrated as Teacher’s Day.” This request shows that how much he love teaching profession. Since Teacher’s Day in India is celebrated on the 5th September every year.
